Italian Fontal Cheese 1 lb | Cut Fresh | Frank and Sal

Italian Fontal Cheese, 1 Pound

Mild, Creamy and Cut Fresh from the Wheel

What Is Fontal Cheese?

Fontal is a semi-soft cow’s milk cheese from Northern Italy. It has a smooth, creamy texture with a mild buttery flavor and a gentle nutty finish. Its moisture and supple texture allow it to melt evenly without overpowering the other ingredients in a dish.

What Is the Difference Between Fontal and Fontina?

Fontal is younger, milder and generally made with pasteurized cow’s milk. Fontina Val d’Aosta DOP is a protected raw-milk cheese produced only in the Aosta Valley and has a deeper, more aromatic alpine flavor. Choose Fontal when you want a creamy, versatile cheese that melts especially well.

How to Use Fontal Cheese

  • Melt it into panini, grilled cheese or hot sandwiches.
  • Add it to pizza, pasta bakes, casseroles or polenta.
  • Use it in fondue, cheese sauce or creamy risotto.
  • Serve it with bread, pears, grapes, olives or cured meats.
